Pre-existing medical conditions
If you have been diagnosed to have a medical condition prior to the trip and you suffered from this condition during your travel, treatment will not be covered. Most travel insurance policies only provide medical coverage to injuries as a result of an accident during the trip. However, sport injuries from bungee jumping, mountain climbing, and other extreme sports are not usually covered. Self-inflicted injuries or any form of psychological illness are excluded as well. In case of pregnancy and childbirth, they're usually not covered but some policies may have special conditions for this.
Delayed baggage for less than 24 hours
Travel insurance covers lost baggage during the trip. However, you have to read the fine prints carefully as some policies exclude incurred cost of delayed baggage in less than 24 hours. Travelers are advised to have a carry-on luggage with their basic necessities that can last them a day or two in case of delayed baggage.
Cancellation of trip by the tour operator
Travel insurance covers canceled trips by the traveler or passenger. But when it's the tour operator who cancels on you, you may not be eligible for refund on your fare.
Other lost items
Coverage for baggage and personal items are oftentimes limited. Your travel insurance may not protect damage to or loss of tickets, credit cards, money, keys, and other important documents, so make sure that highly valuable items are kept in a safe place to avoid any hassle when traveling.
